I love wearing pretty bras that peek out under tanks and sheer tops, but I really hate the whole dying bandeau trend. Perfect alternative! This activewear label, Michi, takes sports bras to a whole new level, perfect for a little exposure, too… I think I also like these bad-ass bras so much because of the pretty photo set, although this model does not look like she knows how to work out!
Check out the interview with Michelle Watson of Michi here on OAKNYC, and for the rest of the photo shoot, here.
Made my own summer necklace…
shell from golden gardens, gold-plated chain, gold wiring, washers, beads :)
BEST SWIMWEAR, SUMMER 2011:
Teeny Triangle Bikini found on Ssense by Phillip Lim . How cute are the little stripes… I want this, and its even 50% off. Perfect for someone with that haircut, too. Modern but a little punk…
I love how this Whisper Underwire One Piece (from Shopbop) is so elegant. I am obsessed with Zimmerman (They also did a few pieces this year for Madewell, you can see here).
Rag and Bone never fails me. If only I had a yacht, a few yacht boys and a martini in hand… I would wear this Elizabeth One Piece; the lines and silhouette are so sexy! I love shopping on Ssense.
French Connection carried some cute suits this season, but by far the Pina Colada One Shoulder top I found on Asos was my favorite. Great silhouette, pattern and color. Cute and casual!
Saving the best for last. I am totally obsessed with the Tavik Maya bikini, sold on every good shopping site (found first on Oak NYC, as usual). I love the neutral vs. coral colors, and leopard vs. geometric pattern. Perfect.
WHY IS THERE NO ZARA IN SEATTLE?
Also, why is it so hard to find good, simple dresses with straight lines that aren’t cinched in at the waist? I love this dress. I want to wear it with my knee-high, flat gladiator sandals to a bbq. Or a picnic. Or a beach bonfire. Or to pick up my bff from the airport (i.e. right this instant).
It’s finally starting to feel like summer, and now I need to go thrifting to find some good jean cutoffs. I’ll post pics of whatever it is I find…
SUMMER ACCESSORIES, Chapter Two.
1. Fold-Over Clutch in Orange by Claire Vivier: I love the idea of a simple square, zippered pouch to throw your keys, phone, i.d. and credit card in when you are running out the door (think picnic, the beach, grocery store, coffee shop). This leather is soft and can be folded down or kept in its square shape. PLUS it is my favorite color for summer.. orange!
2. Oh em gee. This Suno X Loeffler Randall Erin Wedge is perfection. (Click here to read about the socially conscious Suno brand.. an awesome example of fair trade, social responsibility and beautiful fashion through its employment and sustainability of the Kenyan artists, designers, etc. who make up the majority of the company) The print is awesome and I love love love the curve in the back. I feel like these would be perfect for a warm summer evening concert or a night on the patio drinking wine, either dressed up a bit with a buttoned-up, black shirtdress or kept casual with cut-off levi’s and a cream, knit sweater.
3. I have been resistant to this style of small, round framed sunglasses, but these Freida Illestevas have finally made me change my mind. I think its the neautral, multi-color design, and they would be so darling with a simple, black, jersey maxi-tank-dress, belted at the waist with flat sandals. (Another reason why I am obsessed with NeedSupply, they have an awesome selection of accessories right now)
4. My favorite print of the season: giraffe. This scarf is so great because its lightweight and sheer but still makes a statement. This would be perfect to add to any outfit, but I think it would be especially darling with a chambray button-up and slouchy trousers, rolled up with a wedge.
5. Alexander McQueen Corndolly Skull Ring: We all need to feel a little bad-ass at times, and what better way to channel our inner rage than a $300 timeless McQueen skull piece?? I just love everything about this ring, its pretty perfect. The size is great because it adds the extra bling effect to any outfit without having to layer on a hundred pieces.
6. Last but not least, the best take on a cowboy hat I have come across in a while. The Geall Hat by Malene Birger is perfect for those of us fair-skinned ones who burn after being in the sun for two minutes. The plain white color with the black and white ribbon trim makes it so classy but it still has the fun western shape. It goes with anything and you can actually dress it up too… and its on sale!
“Le Pegase d’Hermes” silk twill scarf is so beautiful! Here is a little background…
“A winged horse framed within a text! Here are a few extracts, as invitation to find out more. ‘The Horse of Hermès is a mechanical construction, a homage to Leonardo Da Vinci and the dream of rebuilding the world (…) Like the waters of a torrent, which leap, like the fertile imagination which overflows, its fiery flight cannot be halted. It just goes to show how its encounter with Hermès flows from the same source! (…) The Way of the Winged Horse is also that of the artisan: his craftsmanship embodies the wise balance of the material and the spirit in this delicate harmony, which also turns man, after a fashion, into a demi-god.’” (Ref.)
It comes in pink, purple, light blue, fuschia, white… but my favorite is of course the black, especially because the smallest details are more noticeable. The script around the edges is written backwards, like Da Vinci’s famous habit.
This scarf is incredible!
